Lab

Our computer lab is fully equipped with high grade TFT screen units with ancillary printers, softwares and networking. Facility for carefully monitored and supervised internet connectivity exists. Each child has his/her own workstation with an individual computer for hands-on learning and practice.

The school has two spacious computer labs. The entire campus is networked and INTRANET & INTERNET facilities are provided for various tasks pertaining to the daily routine.

Computer science is taught as an additional subject right from Class I to Class X. The students of these classes are taught various software modules on different networks and different Operating systems. Computer science is taught as an optional subject for classes XI & XII. The students of these classes are taught C++, SQL, Boolean Algebra and Networking,Basics,Python.

A child can perceive a concept thoroughly only with the combination of theoretical teaching in a classroom and hands on experience in a lab. Math needs practice, interest and brainpower which are fostered by the Math lab. The Lab makes Math simple and fun for students. The lab is well equipped to demonstrate and elucidate any topic. For instance, the ‘RAMANUJAN’S KIT’ has all the components with which every important concept and formula can be proved practically. It enables the teachers to demonstrate and reinforce Mathematical concepts. Hence, it helps in mental enhancement in areas of Math like Algebra, Arithmetic, Calculus, Geometry, Statistics, and Trigonometry etc. Another software is the Metamouse which encourages Cooperative Learning and facilitates group activities.

Mere theoretical knowledge is not of much use in life. Science lab exists to experientially confirm the text book knowledge. It provides fun and exhilaration in discovering the phenomena and helping the systematic development of knowledge.

The Language lab will encourage accelerated language learning as students listen to correct pronunciation, repeat and communicate individually with the teacher. It focuses on the practical, conversational use of the language. It is our wish that our students enjoy the facility to perfect their speech, have impeccable pronunciation, and correct intonation with voice modulation in their chosen language.

There is an extensive use of technology in these labs. Labs work teachers children to observe keenly, think logically and analyse critically.

The Flat-topped tables used as student workstations allow multiple arrangements and combinations for laboratory work and small-group activities. The equipment ranges from the commonly found lens, magnet, beam balance, spring balance, glass prism to the advanced apparatus like voltmeter, ammeter and resistors and spectrometers to name a few. The laboratory is also equipped with an Interactive board and an LCD projector that allows the teachers to incorporate the latest technology in their lessons to arouse the interest and curiosity of the students

Chemistry lab is a required component, not only to give experiments their due place in the subject but also to promote an experimental culture in the school system. At Xavier’s, students are expected to indulge in a creative interplay of observation, experimentation and theoretical inferences amidst adequately equipped and modern apparatus pertaining to the development of their research and analytical temperament. A well-stocked and furnished cupboard, a fuming chamber and a separate store having a large number of organic and inorganic compounds, safely kept acids and bases, add to our spacious laboratory. Special apparatus like desiccators, crucibles and various fractionating columns to support investigatory projects are also available.

The practice of the reactions and scientific mechanism is introduced to the students as early as in class IX with various activities and demonstrations during frequent lab visits. For students of Class XI and Class XII, chromatography, salt analysis, qualitative analysis of organic compounds and volumetric analysis besides a variety of core experiments prepare the students for the industry.
