Decoding CBSE Board Exams: A Parent's Guide to Success

Understanding the CBSE grading system for board exams can help parents guide their children well in the run-up to the crucial board exams. Board exams are milestones in the academic journey of students. How they perform in board exams decides their career goals. For this reason, the best schools in Ghaziabad want parents to know more about board exams.

CBSE Grading System

CBSE now follows a unique grading system to rate the performance and pass percentage of students. The board has selected grades from A-1 to E with grade points descending from 10 for A-1 to C for E. It isn’t difficult to understand the grading system as it follows a simple formula. The top 1/8th students are kept in A-1 grade; the next 1/8th are in A-2 grade and it continues till Grade E. Grade E is given for failure but students are eligible for compartment.

Evaluation Criteria

CBSE evaluates the performance of students on many factors including exams, projects, assignments, practical, and overall class assessment. It is a comprehensive approach that follows a holistic pattern. For example, if a student gives poor performance in exams, they can boost their performance and overall score in assignments and overall assessment. Top schools in Ghaziabad want parents to adopt a holistic approach to judge the overall performance of their kids.

Advantages of Grading System

1. Students are clubbed together in grades instead of divided according to individual marks and percentages.

2. It follows a comprehensive approach to include all the positive sides and strengths of students.

3. It highlights the true potential of students. Every student has their strengths and the grading system highlights only strengths.

4. It provides students with multiple opportunities to boost their performance and grades.

5. Students perform well on every factor that is in any way related to their academics and overall development.

Tips for parents:

1. Support your child

You should encourage your child to focus on their strength to get better scores and grades. CBSE will consider the overall performance of your child and the child can do well with your support and encouragement.

2. Manage expectations

Always have realistic expectations from your child so you don’t put unnecessary pressure on the child. Let the child do well according to their strengths and you expect the best outcome. The best thing you can do is to monitor the performance of your child to manage expectations.

3. Communicate with teachers

Attend all PTMs and use all channels including daily reports to communicate with teachers. You can get the best feedback about your child from their teachers and listening to teachers is the best way to help and support your child.

4. Always remain hopeful

As a responsible and caring parent, you should remain hopeful of a bright future for your child. The best schools in Ghaziabad allow parents to play a direct role in the overall development of children. CBSE board gives opportunities to everyone but you should be ready to notice the opportunity and take advantage of it.
